Announcement from All Members of Session
Dear Member of First Presbyterian Church:
Your Session is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Reverend Dr. Ann Marie Montgomery to serve our church as Pastor. Ann Marie (yes, she prefers to be spoken to simply as “Ann Marie”) is currently serving the Cadmus Presbyterian Church as its installed Pastor.
She has an impressive educational background with extensive experience. Her Masters Degree was obtained at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary Theology. She became a Doctor of Ministry at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta. She has worked as a Director of Christian Education previously and served as a co-pastor with her husband for almost 20 years in Murray, Kentucky.
The agreement is for Ann Marie to continue as the installed Pastor at Cadmus and serve our congregation for a three month “trial” period. If, as hoped, the arrangement is acceptable to Cadmus, our church and Ann Marie, the agreement would continue until year end, with annual renewals after that.
As you will understand, serving two churches will require flexibility and change for both congregations. As such, beginning March 22, our Sunday service will begin at 9:30 A:M and will not be changed during the summer months. Cadmus services will be moved to 11:00 A:M. Children’s Sunday School will take place AFTER the regular service concludes at 10:30 AM. The children will be able to enjoy the coffee hour for 30 minutes, with Children’s Sunday school to begin at 11:00 AM and continue for 45 minutes, concluding at 11:45 AM.
Your Session recognizes that changes to long standing schedules and habits may be difficult for some. Yet, it must be understood that such arrangements with Pastors working with two congregations is becoming more prevalent, especially in our Presbytery. We ask for your cooperation, understanding and support for such changes as we move forward in the life of First Presbyterian. As questions and suggestions arise, please feel free to share with a Session member.
Respectfully,
All Members of Session
