Announcements

Lighting the Christ Candle

Worship is marked by lighting the Christ candle, a reminder that Christ is present among us.

Pouring the Baptismal Water

The pouring of the water reminds us that in baptism we are cleansed, delivered, raised, forgiven, reborn, anointed, restored, and strengthened for a life of faith.

Call To Worship

L: Bless the Lord, O people; Come and hear what God has done; Let us rejoice in the One who holds us secure.

P: Let the sound of praise ring out!

Prayer of Adoration

Lord, in You we live and move and have our being. We are Your children and You are not far from any of us. You are the God who creates, redeems and sustains.  Help us to choose life in You, that we might follow the ways of Christ and listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and bear witness to the Good News of Your love and mercy. Amen.

God Speaks Through the Word

Prayer of Illumination

Scripture Reading     John 14: 18-21

“I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.  In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.  They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

Reflection                               “I Will Not Leave You Comfortless”

God Waits for Our Response

What We Believe         (Adapted From: I Corinthians 15: 1-11)

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day, and that He appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, He is our Lord and our God.

Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer
