God Gathers The Faithful

Prelude

Announcements

Lighting the Christ Candle

Worship is marked by lighting the Christ candle, a reminder that Christ is present among us.

Pouring the Baptismal Water

The pouring of the water reminds us that in baptism we are cleansed, delivered, raised, forgiven, reborn, anointed, restored, and strengthened for a life of faith.

  Call To Worship

L: The Lord is here; We need not fear; We are immersed in love; We continue in hope; We rejoice in faith

P: God’s Spirit is with us.

  Special Music                                         “The Prayer”

I pray You'll be our eyes, and watch us where we go; And help us to be wise in times when we don't know. Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way; Lead us to the place, guide us with Your grace, To a place where we'll be safe.

I pray we 'Il find Your light, and hold it in our hearts; When stars go out each night, Remind us where You are. Let this be our prayer, when shadows fill our day; Help us find a place, guide us with Your grace, Give us faith so we'll be safe.

A world where pain and sorrow will be ended; And every heart that's broken will be mended; And we'll remember we are all God's children, Reaching out to touch You, Reaching to the sky.

We ask that life be kind, and watch us from above; We hope each soul will find another soul to love. Let this be our prayer, just like every child; Who needs to find a place, guide us with Your grace, Give us faith so we'll be safe.   Needs to find a place, guide us with Your grace, Give us faith so we'll be safe.

  God Speaks Through the Word

Scripture Reading                  2 Thessalonians 2:14-17

“For this purpose he called you through our proclamation of the good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.”  (NRSV)

What We Believe         (From: The Church of Canada)

We are not alone, we live in God's world.
We believe in God: who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
       to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
    to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
    to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
       our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
    God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
