All Saints’ Day has been celebrated on November 1 since the year 835. I always choose the Sunday closest to the 1st to mark this important day in worship. On November 7th we will take time to toll the bell in worship for those who have died in the last year. We not only remember those who have gone on before us, but we anticipate the life eternal promised to us all in Jesus Christ. We believe that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who have lived faithfully before us through the ages. We are grateful for all those saints who have shared their lives and faith with us. We are reminded that God was with the faithful of the past and we are reassured that God is with us today, moving us and all creation toward God’s redemptive work in the world.
